Named in honor of Shirley Partridge's historic nomination for Mother of the Year by the esteemed Women's Journal (season three, episode two), AXS TV's Mother's Day block puts the spotlight on 16 classic The Partridge Family episodes—capturing the musical matriarch in all of her motherly glory, providing her talented brood with love, guidance, and plenty of laughs, as they hop aboard their iconic multi-colored bus and hit the road for superstardom. AXS TV's "Shirley Partridge Mother of the Year Marathon airs Saturday, May 11 and Sunday, May 12, starting at 1 p.m. ET.

This special event kicks off with "M Is For The Many Things," in which the beloved Mrs. Partridge races to accept the award for Mother Of The Year after a hectic road trip navigating through a host of wrong turns, traffic tickets, a missing wallet, and more. The episode will lead off both the Saturday and Sunday lineups, starting at 1 p.m. ET. Other highlights include unforgettable guest roles by groundbreaking entertainers from across the pop culture spectrum, ranging from Country trailblazer Johnny Cash to Farrah Fawcett and Jaclyn Smith in a pair of pre-Charlie's Angels appearances; as well as legendary radio and television personality Dick Clark; and even Luke Skywalker, himself—Mark Hamill—six years before his career-defining role in Star Wars. The block also features enduring The Partridge Family singles such as "I Think I Love You," "Let The Good Times In," "That'll Be The Day" and more—ensuring viewers will be singing along all weekend long!

The Partridge Family stars Oscar®-winning actress Shirley Jones as Shirley Partridge, with Danny Bonaduce, Susan Dey, Suzanne Crough, Jeremy Gelbwaks, and teen sensation David Cassidy as her rockin' offspring. Encore presentations of each block will air in primetime at 9 p.m. ET on Saturday and Sunday.

It's time for another edition of Fri-Yay! That means we will take a look back on some sitcom happenings in recent days or weeks or other fun sitcomy stuff. It's a sitcom lover's paradise! Happy Fri-Yay!

This week, Rolling Stone posted an article about the best sitcoms of all time. If your Twitter feed is like mine, it's been buzzing with discussion about it. Obviously, these lists are entirely subject, just a few critics opinions, and should only be taken light heartedly. But what’s the point of the internet if not to argue and give your opinion on something that ultimately is pretty inconsequential? So, in this column, I'll share my thoughts on Rolling Stone's Best Sitcoms of All Time list.

For the most part, there isn't too much I could quibble with. The show ranked first is The Simpsons, which would also be my #1 pick, if only for the unbeatable '90s seasons. Many of my other favorites - The Office, 30 Rock, Cheers, Community - also made the cut. Still, I would say the list leaned more heavily on modern shows - more obscure and short running modern series like, say, Baskets made the cut over older and perhaps equally strong obscure older shows. But it was still a solid list and I enjoyed reading a celebration of so many different sitcoms from many different eras. Check out the list, and see for yourself what you think of their ranking.

With Mother's Day this Sunday, we leave you with a classic TV moms update. Marion Cunningham, beloved "Mrs. C" from TV's Happy Days edged out Shirley Partridge from The Partridge Family for Greatest Classic TV Mom in a nationwide tournament sponsored by BoomAgain.com . Greatest Classic TV Mom bracket paired moms from popular Boomer sitcoms including Carol Brady (The Brady Bunch), June Cleaver (Leave it to Beaver), Edith Bunker (All in the Family), Morticia Addams (The Addams Family), Florida Evans (Good Times), Jane Jetson (The Jetsons), and more. More than 6000 votes were cast during the 7-day tournament. In the finals Mrs. C handily defeated Shirley Partridge with 56% of the vote.

Fans also weighed-in on social media with ringing endorsements for their "other mothers." Shirley Partridge was revered for carrying the load as a single mom -- "Shirley Partridge didn't have a housekeeper or a husband but she made it work." Fans of Edith Bunker noted, "Edith wasn't just a doormat for Archie. She supported Gloria's feminism." But in the end Mrs. C was "...ahead of her time. She accepted her kids' friends and supported their dreams." Another crowned her as "...the Mom we all wanted." The tournament was sponsored by Boom Again, a pop-culture trivia game celebrating Baby Boomers.

This holiday season on Antenna TV, it's more festive fun! It all starts on Wednesday, November 25 at 8pm with the "All of The Partridge Family Marathon" during Thanksgiving Weekend! Binge every episode of The Partridge Family in one shot from Nov. 25 through 10pm on Friday, November 27. Jumping to Christmas Eve (Thursday, December 24), catch Christmas episodes all day for 24 straight hours from 5am to 5am Christmas Day. Shows will air in their regular time periods with a few exceptions: Family Ties at 6am instead of the regularly scheduled The Partridge Family; Bewitched from 1-2pm instead of the regularly scheduled I Dream of Jeannie; and Barney Miller from 9-10pm instead of the regularly scheduled Three's Company. Then on Christmas Day on Friday, Dec. 25 for 24 hours starting at 5am, it's Antenna TV's annual Christmas Through the Years. The Yule Log will air first from 5am-10am, then sitcom episodes starting with Father Knows Best and ending with Becker. Other holiday episodes of series airing include Dennis the Menace, That Girl, Three's Company, Alice, The Facts of Life, Silver Spoons, 227, Head of the Class and The Hogan Family. On New Year's Eve on Thursday, December 31, it's the "Chrissy, Jack & Janet's New Year's Eve Party" with episodes of Three's Company from 8pm-5am. 16 classic episodes for your New Year's Eve Party. Who needs the ball drop when the trio will dance to the disco ball? And finally, as we hinted on Friday, January 1, Antenna TV is turning ten years old and they are celebrating with a fan created marathon titled "AnTENna TV's Birthday Blowout." In an exclusive announcement on his social handle, Will Smith released the trailer for The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air Reunion from Westbrook Media and revealed that the special will debut on HBO Max this Thursday, November 19. In the unscripted special, Smith is joined by series regulars Tatyana Ali, Karyn Parsons, Joseph Marcell, Daphne Maxwell Reid and Alfonso Ribeiro as well as recurring co-star DJ Jazzy Jeff for a family reunion on set in the Banks' home for a look back at the groundbreaking show. Taped on the 30th anniversary of the original series premiere date, Smith also sat down with Janet Hubert, who originated the role of Aunt Viv, for the first time in 27 years for an emotional reunion and a candid conversation.

As previously announced, the special will be a funny and heartfelt night full of music, dancing, and a look at the cultural impact the series has had since its debut 30 years ago. Produced by Westbrook Media, the reunion will launch exclusively on HBO Max on November 19. HBO Max is the exclusive SVOD home of the full original series library in the US, debuting on the platform when it launched in May.

Claim to Fame: Most people know David Cassidy, who died this week, from his fame on The Partridge Family. What some people may not realize is that he has a daughter who is an uprising actress in her own right, Katie Cassidy. Katie Cassidy first came to fame at age 15 from doing a cover of her father's song "I Think I Love You," but that was her first and last experience in the music industry. But acting has been good for her, as she has been cast in three series that didn't make it past one season, but finally struck gold with her role in the series Arrow.

Fox is announcing premiere dates for new comedy LA to Vegas (Jan. 2) and new drama The Resident (Jan. 21, following NFC Championship Game, and Jan. 22, in its time period premiere). New comedy LA to Vegas will premiere on Tuesday, Jan. 2 at 9:00PM ET/PT on Fox. From executive producers Will Ferrell (Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy, Elf), Adam McKay (The Big Short), Lon Zimmet (Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt), Chris Henchy (Entourage, The Other Guys), Owen Burke (Drunk History) and executive producer/director Steve Levitan (Modern Family), LA to Vegas is a workplace comedy about an airline crew and the eccentric passengers who, every weekend, take a no-frills roundtrip flight from Los Angeles to Las Vegas with one goal in mind - to come back a winner. The series stars Kim Matula (UnREAL), Ed Weeks (The Mindy Project), Nathan Lee Graham (The Comeback, Hitch) and Olivia Macklin (The Young Pope) with Peter Stormare (The Big Lebowski) and Emmy Award nominee and Golden Globe winner Dylan McDermott (The Practice, American Horror Story). Levitan directed the premiere episode. Josh Bycel, Jonathan Fener and Jeff Morton also serve as executive producers. Following LA to Vegas, The Mick will return in its new time period at 9:30PM ET/PT.

New medical drama The Resident debuts Sunday, Jan. 21 live at 10:00PM ET/7:00PM PT, following the NFC Championship Game, and makes its time period premiere on Monday, Jan. 22 at 9:00PM ET/PT. The Resident is a powerful new medical drama focusing on the final years of a young doctor's training that rips back the curtain to reveal the truth of what really happens, both good and bad, in hospitals across the country. Starring Matt Czuchry (The Good Wife), Emily VanCamp (Revenge), Manish Dayal (Halt and Catch Fire), Moran Atias (24: Legacy), Merrin Dungey (Big Little Lies) and Shaunette Renée Wilson (Billions) with Melina Kanakaredes (CSI: NY, Providence) and Bruce Greenwood (The People v. Actor and singer David Cassidy, who was best known for his role as Keith Partridge in The Partridge Family, has died. He died on November 21 at a Fort Lauderdale, Florida, area hospital from organ failure. He had been hospitalized suffering from liver and kidney failure on November 18. Mr. Cassidy was 67.

Cassidy's early television guest appearances included The Survivors, Ironside, The F.B.I., Marcus Welby, M.D., Bonanza, Medical Center and The Mod Squad.

He starred as Keith Partridge in The Partridge Family, which aired on ABC from 1970 to 1974. The popular musical sitcom aired for 4 seasons and 96 episodes. Cassidy played the oldest of the five children. His stepmother Shirley Jones played his mother, Shirley Partridge. The series also starred Susan Dey, Danny Bonaduce, Jeremy Gelbwaks (1970-1971), Brian Forster (1971-1974), Suzanne Crough and David Madden.

The Partridge Family released eight studio albums during the show's run. The Partridge Family's biggest hit was the song "I Think I Love You", which was ranked #1 on US Billboard Hot 100 in December 1970. Other hits included "Doesn't Somebody Want to Be Wanted", "I'll Meet You Halfway", "I Woke Up in Love This Morning", "It's One of Those Nights (Yes Love)", "Am I Losing You", "Looking Through the Eyes of Love", "Breaking Up Is Hard to Do" and "A Friend and a Lover". Cassidy also had much solo success with performances around the world. He released twelve studio albums, three live albums, six compilation albums, two soundtrack albums and twenty-four singles.

Cassidy received an Emmy nomination for his role as Officer Don Shay in a 1978 episode of Police Story titled "A Chance to Live." The episode was the pilot for the spin-off series David Cassidy: Man Undercover. The short-lived 1978-1979 NBC police drama also starred Wendy Rastatter, Elizabeth Reddin, Simon Oakland, Ray Vitte and Michael A. Salcido. He also performed the show's theme song titled "Hard Times (Hard Crimes)".

In 2009, he co-starred with his half-brother Patrick in the short-lived ABC Family sitcom Ruby & The Rockits. The series was created by his half-brother Shaun. It also starred Alexa Vega, Austin Butler, Katie A. Keane and Kurt Doss.

Some of his sitcom guest appearances included The Love Boat, Blossom, The John Larroquette Show, Malcolm in the Middle and Less Than Perfect. He also wrote and performed the theme song for The John Larroquette Show. Some of his other drama guest appearances included Fantasy Island, Matt Houston, Tales of the Unexpected, Alfred Hitchcock Presents, The Flash, The Agency and CSI: Crime Scene Investigation.

Mr. Cassidy was one of the biggest teen idols and pop singers of the 1970s. He was a man of many talents as an actor and singer. We thank him for the many hours of laughter and entertainment he brought us over the years. He will be greatly missed.

The Mindy Project's fourth season is moving to Hulu and we have a season premiere date! It will be streaming weekly beginning Wednesday, September 15 every Wednesday on Hulu. The fourth season stars Mindy Kaling, Chris Messina, Ed Weeks, Ike Barinholtz, Beth Grant and Xosha Roquemore. The first three seasons aired on Fox in primetime, but the ratings were not strong enough to continue, instead Hulu announced it would pick the series up last May for a fourth season with 26 all-new episodes. The series is Executive Produced by Mindy Kaling, Howard Klein, Matt Warburton, and Charlie Grandy. The Mindy Project is a single-camera comedy series created by and starring Emmy(R)-nominated writer/producer and New York Times best-selling author Mindy Kaling that follows a skilled OB/GYN navigating the tricky waters of both her personal and professional life. Hulu will have the option to order subsequent seasons.

On Mother's Day this Sunday (May 10), catch The Bionic Woman all day on Cozi TV from 1PM-5PM and 7PM-10PM ET. The classic sci-fi action show casts Emmy-winner Lindsay Wagner as Jaime Sommers, a woman who secretly takes on special high-risk government missions using her tremendous bionic powers. Featuring great action, sexy thrills, and the now iconic sound of bionic powers in action! Simply unforgettable. The Bionic Woman airs regularly on Cozi TV on Wednesday nights at 9pm and 10pm ET. OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network announced today a comedic, dramatic and highly intimate docu-series, For Peete's Sake (working title), following the lives of husband and wife duo Holly Robinson Peete and Rodney Peete as they juggle complicated career choices with their bustling family life. The Peete's new series joins OWN's popular Saturday night lineup. OWN is Saturday night's #2 network on all of television for African-American women and year-to-date features the top three original series on television for African-American women (Welcome to Sweetie Pie's, Raising Whitley and 2 Fat 2 Fly). In 2014, OWN had the top five original series on ad-supported cable for African-American women (Welcome to Sweetie Pie's, Iyanla: Fix My Life, Deion's Family Playbook, Six Little McGhees and Raising Whitley). Millions of fans know Holly Robinson Peete as the actress who launched her long-running career starring on the groundbreaking TV series 21 Jump Street (and went on to star in Hangin' with Mr. Cooper), and Rodney Peete as the popular NFL quarterback and former co-host of Fox Sports' The Best Damn Sports Show Period. But their very public careers reveal just a glimpse of what life is like today for this Hollywood power couple, whose family includes four kids and Holly's wild-and-crazy mom, Dolores, who at 79 years young is anything but a typical grandma. In a household where constant activity and change are the norm, the series celebrates the chaotic, yet loving dynamic of life in this magnetic American family.

Actress Suzanne Crough, best known for her role as Tracy Partridge in The Partridge Family, has died. She died on April 27 at her home in Laughlin, Nevada. No cause of death has been reported. Ms. Crough was 52.

Crough starred as the youngest sibling Tracy Partridge, who played the tambourine in the band, in The Partridge Family. The popular series starred Shirley Jones, David Cassidy, Susan Dey, Danny Bonaduce, Jeremy Gelbwaks (season 1), Brian Forster (seasons 2-4) and Dave Madden. It ran four seasons on ABC from 1970-1974. She voiced the Tracy character in eight episodes of the animated series Goober and the Ghost Chasers and all episodes of Partridge Family 2200 A.D., which aired on CBS from 1974-1975. She was interviewed in the 2003 Biography special on The Partridge Family. In 2010, she reunited with several co-stars on NBC's Today.

Her other starring role was as Stevie Freedman in the 1977 NBC comedy-drama Mulligan's Stew. The short-lived series starred Lawrence Pressman, Elinor Donahue, Johnny Doran, Julie Anne Haddock, K.C. Martel, Chris Ciampa, Sunshine Lee and Lory Kochheim.

Crough's other acting credits included the 1976 TV movie Dawn: Portrait of a Teenage Runaway (starring The Brady Bunch's Eve Plumb), Fred Flintstone and Friends (voice), Wonder Woman, Teenage Father (Academy Award-winning short film) and the 1980 TV movie Children of Divorce. After graduating from Los Angeles Pierce College, she owned and operated a bookstore until 1993. She later worked as a manager at Office Max.

The Partridge Family fan site C'mon Get Happy conducted an extensive interview with her in 2000.

Survivors include her husband, William Condray, and two daughters, Samantha and Alexandra.

Who to Follow: Zachery Ty Bryan (Twitter)

Claim to Fame: While Zachery Ty Bryan started out in some advertising spots when he was younger, he came into his best known role when he was only 10 years old, playing oldest son Brad Taylor on the hit ABC sitcom Home Improvement. Following that series, he has mostly done a lot of guest starring roles, on series such as Boston Public, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Veronica Mars, Cold Case, and Burn Notice. These days, he is dabbling in behind-the-scenes work in production. And, if you read his Twitter feed, you'll see that all of that love for soccer that he had on the series wasn't just made-for-TV, it is something that is a real thing in his life. That isn't his only sports connection: his second cousin is former NFL quarterback Brady Quinn.

This April, Antenna TV is adding two '70s classics to its line-up! As we mentioned, One Day at a Time and The Jeffersons are coming in 2015, but now we have a date. Both will launch on the schedule on Monday, April 6, 2015! But first, The Jeffersons will have a "Movin' On Up To 40" Marathon for its 40th anniversary on Saturday, April 4 from 8pm through Sunday, April 5 8pm. It is 24-hours of George & Weezy! Before we get back to the new schedule, on Wednesday, April 1, Antenna TV will present a Three Stooges April Fools Day marathon beginning at 12 midnight through 3am the next day on Thursday, April 2. That's 27 hours of those fumbling fools! Now onto the new schedule! There will be time changes as usual throughout the line-up. The Jeffersons will air weeknights at 10pm & 10:30pm leading into One Day at a Time at 11pm & 11:30pm. The Jeffersons will also air Sundays at 7pm & 7:30pm, while One Day at a Time airs at 9pm & 9:30pm on Sunday nights. Alfred Hitchcock Presents, Flipper, and The Partridge Family are returning to the schedule, back on weekends. Flipper on Saturdays from 3-4pm, Partridge Family on Saturdays from 5-6pm, and Hitchcock on both nights from 2-3am. With all of these new additions and returnees, only two shows will be off the line-up: Circus Boy & WKRP in Cincinnati. The latter was removed from its weeknights from 7-8pm hour recently for the return of Sanford & Son.

The rest of the line-up is mainly time changes. The weeknights from 5pm-1am will now be classic '70s sitcoms with an hour each of Three's Company, Barney Miller, Sanford & Son, Good Times, All in the Family, The Jeffersons, One Day at a Time and more Three's Company. On Sundays, the '70s line-up airs from 4pm-11pm with All in the Family, Maude, Good Times, The Jeffersons, Sanford & Son, One Day at a Time, and Three's Company. Speaking of Three's Company, weekend play has been added, airing on weekends from 10-11pm, while its spin-offs The Ropers and Three's a Crowd will air Saturdays 7-8pm and Sundays 12-1pm. Sticking to our digital multicast network theme, COZI TV, the network designed to deliver viewers an easy-to-watch, comfortable and familiar viewing experience, announced it has signed an affiliation agreement with Meredith Corporation, bringing its iconic shows and movies to viewers in seven new markets later this spring. Additionally, WFFP in Lynchburg, Virginia has signed on as a COZI TV affiliate and will be launching the network in the coming weeks. Under the agreement with Meredith, COZI TV will be launching this spring on the multicast channels of seven local stations owned by Meredith, including WGCL in Atlanta, KPHO in Phoenix, KPTV in Portland, WSMV in Nashville, WHNS in Greenville, WNEM in Flint and WSHM in Springfield, Massachusetts. COZI TV has also reached an agreement with WFFP in Lynchburg, which is owned by Morning Star Broadcasting. With this latest expansion, COZI TV is now available in approximately 80 million U.S. homes or over 70 percent of the country. COZI TV now has 74 affiliates, serving nine of the top 10 U.S. television markets.

Last summer we announced that Antenna TV had acquired many series for 2015. Now some of them are launching right now in January! In fact, the new Antenna TV January 2015 schedule starts today. Six of the eleven series they announced are joining the schedule. The series joining the line-up are Leave it to Beaver, Mr. Belvedere, Newhart, Doogie Howser M.D., Small Wonder and Evening Shade (one note is that Leave it to Beaver is returning to Antenna TV after airing on MeTV). So you'll have to wait later this year for the other series: The Jeffersons, Mork & Mindy, One Day at a Time, Family Ties, and Dear John. Anyway, back to the January 2015 schedule, as always there are a lot of time changes. Hazel is also returning to the schedule (airing weekdays 9-10am), while The Ropers and Three's a Crowd get regular weekend airings now (Saturdays 6-7pm and Sundays 12-1pm) instead of airing within the Three's Company rotation. Also returning to Antenna TV is The Three Stooges, airing Sundays 7-8am. As for the new series, Leave it to Beaver will air weekdays from 4-5pm, Saturdays 5-6pm and Sundays 2-3pm. Mr. Belvedere will air weekdays from 5-6pm, Saturdays 11pm-12am and Sundays 6-7pm. Newhart launches tonight with a special finale/pilot episode event, with the series finale airing first at 10pm, followed by the pilot episode at 10:30pm. The Bob Newhart '80s comedy will air weekdays 10-11pm and weekends 9-10pm. Doogie Howser M.D. will air late nights on weeknights from 2-3am, Saturdays 10-11pm and Sundays 7-8pm. Small Wonder and Evening Shade will only air on weekends, with Small Wonder on Saturdays 3-4pm and Sundays 5-6pm. Evening Shade is weekends from 8-9pm.

With all of these additions and returns, some series will be leaving the schedule. Expiring or on hiatus series are: Alfred Hitchcock Presents, Bachelor Father, Diff'rent Strokes, Flipper, It Takes A Thief, Married...with Children, Partridge Family, Sanford And Son, The Nanny and Tooned In. The weekday morning schedule will consist of black and white sitcoms from 6am-5pm, while the '70s/'80s comedies take over from 5pm-3am. Actress Donna Douglas, best known for her role as Elly May Clampett in The Beverly Hillbillies, has died. She died at Baton Rouge General Hospital in Zachary, Louisiana on January 1 from pancreatic cancer. Ms. Douglas was 82.

Douglas' early sitcom appearances included Bachelor Father, Hennesey, Pete and Gladys and Mister Ed. Some of her drama appearances included Tightrope, U.S. Marshal, Whirlybirds, Lock Up, The Detectives, Route 66, Thriller, Checkmate, 77 Sunset Strip, Surfside 6, Dr. Kildare and Twilight Zone. Her film credits included Career, Lover Come Back and Frankie and Johnny (with Elvis Presley).

Douglas was selected from among 500 young actresses for the role of Elly May Clampett in The Beverly Hillbillies. The popular CBS sitcom ran for nine seasons and 274 episodes from 1962-1971. The series also starred Buddy Ebsen, Irene Ryan, Max Baer, Jr, Raymond Bailey and Nancy Kulp. Elly May was the only child of Jed and Rose Ellen Clampett. She was a tomboy who loved all kinds of critters. Douglas joined Ebsen and Culp in the 1981 CBS TV movie Return of the Beverly Hillbillies. She reunited with Ebsen and Baer in the 1993 CBS TV special The Legend of the Beverly Hillbillies.

Some of her later television appearances included Night Gallery, Love, American Style, Adam-12, McMillan & Wife, Project U.F.O., The Super Mario Bros. Super Show! and The Nanny. Following her acting career, she briefly worked as a real estate agent. She frequently performed as a gospel singer and was an inspirational speaker at many church groups, youth groups and schools. Douglas wrote several children's books and published a cookbook in 2013.

Survivors include her son, Danny P. Bourgeois, and a niece, Charlene Smith. Donna was a talented and beautiful actress. She seemed like a very sweet lady with all of her charity work. She always appeared to be appreciative of her fans. We will deeply miss her.

• Mill Creek is showing absolutely no sign of slowing down on their Sony releases, which have seen at least a few released every month since January, and June is no exception. On June 24, the studio will release Bewitched - Seasons 3 and 4, The Larry Sanders Show - Seasons 1 and 2, and The Partridge Family - Seasons 1 and 2.
• eOne Entertainment will release The Abbott & Costello Show - The Complete Second Season on May 20, but for those interested in the series it may make more sense to pick up their release of The Abbott & Costello Show - The Complete Series, which is currently a dollar cheaper.

• Starsky & Hutch - Season 1 (Mill Creek):  One of TV's favorite detective duos returns to DVD for this re-release on DVD that comes at a lower price (but without the special features of the original release).

Claim to Fame: Once again, we're going on with our Cosby Show theme again this week with Malcolm-Jamal Warner, who played Theo. Like many other cast members of the series, he found great success after the series ended and didn't just fade away. Early appearances on TV included guest roles on Matt Houston and Fame, but it wasn't long until he was cast on The Cosby Show. After that, though, he didn't stop. In fact, he was immediately cast in the lead role of the series Here and Now (which didn't last long). In 1996, he did find some success with Malcolm and Eddie, which ran for four seasons. Most recently, he has had a recurring role on the NBC series Community.

The castaways have lost another beloved member of their crew. Actor Russell Johnson, who became known to generations of TV fans as "The Professor," the fix-it man who kept his fellow Gilligan's Island castaways supplied with gadgets, has died. Johnson died Thursday morning (Jan. 16, 2014) at his home in Washington State of natural causes, said his agent, Mike Eisenstadt. Before Gilligan's Island, Johnson had appeared in dozens of films and television shows. His TV credits included 77 Sunset Strip, Gunsmoke, Rawhide, Wagon Train, The Lone Ranger, The Twilight Zone, Ben Casey, Hawaiian Eye and Death Valley Days. Although he didn't work as often after Gilligan's Island, Johnson remained active into the late 1990s, appearing on such shows as ALF, The Jeffersons, My Two Dads, Dynasty and Newhart.

During its three-season run on CBS, critics repeatedly lambasted Gilligan's Island as insipid. But after its cancellation in 1967, it found generations of new fans in reruns and reunion movies in the '70s and '80s (Rescue from Gilligan's Island, The Castaways on Gilligan's Island, The Harlem Globetrotters on Gilligan's Island, and animated series Gilligan's Planet). One of the most recent of the reunion films was 2001's Surviving Gilligan's Island: The Incredibly True Story of the Longest Three-Hour Tour in History, in which other actors portrayed the original seven-member cast while Johnson and two other surviving cast members narrated and reminisced.

As far as TV marathon tributes, The MeTV Network will pay tribute to Russell Johnson by featuring four episodes prominently featuring the character Professor Roy Hinkley. Part one aired last night from 8:00- 9:00pm ET/PT (episodes: "Pass the Vegetables, Please" and "Forget Me Not") and part two will air Sunday morning from 11:00am-12:00pm ET/PT (episodes: "Ship Ahoax" and "V For Vitamins"). We will let you know if anything else comes up, as TV Land coincidentally just started airing the series again after a decade. Mr. Johnson will be deeply missed and now we are down to two Gilligan's Island cast members: Dawn Wells and Tina Louise. Mr. Johnson was 89.

Canadian-born American actor, who was best known for his role as the group's manager Reuben Kincaid in The Partridge Family, has died. He died on January 16 in Jacksonville, Florida of complications of myelodysplastic syndrome. Mr. Madden was 82.

Madden's career in Hollywood began with appearances on The Ed Sullivan Show. His first starring role was as Counselor Pruett in the 1965-1966 NBC sitcom Camp Runamuck. He had a regular role as a milk-drinking, confetti-throwing sad sack on Rowan & Martin's Laugh-In from 1968–1969 on NBC. His other early guest appearances included Accidental Family, Bewitched and Love, American Style.

Madden played the fast-talking, child-hating agent/manager Reuben Kincaid in The Partridge Family. The popular sitcom ran for 4 seasons and 96 episodes on ABC from 1970-1974. He appeared in a 2003 Biography special on the series. The C'mon Get Happy fan site conducted an extensive interview with him in 2009.

He later had a recurring role as Mel's Diner customer and Tommy's basketball coach Earl Hicks in Alice from 1978-1985. His other sitcom guest appearances included Happy Days, Barney Miller, The Love Boat, The New Leave it to Beaver, Life with Lucy, Herman's Head (as the opening narrator), Married with Children, Boy Meets World and Sabrina the Teenage Witch. He released his memoirs, Reuben on Wry: The Memoirs of Dave Madden, in 2007.

Our friends at Just My Show interviewed him in 2007. Survivors include his wife, Sandra Martin; two children from his first marriage, Selena Madden and Michael Fox; a stepdaughter, Alexandra Martin; a sister; and two grandchildren. His characters on The Partridge Family and Alice were very memorable. The scenes with Reuben and Danny were always funny. He will be greatly missed.

Antenna TV will commemorate the life of Dave Madden (Reuben Kincaid) this Saturday, January 18th with a 7-hour Partridge Family marathon beginning at 1pm ET and running through 8pm ET.
